  3. Shareware vs Registered version
  4.  
  5. What are the differences.
  6.  
  7. The shareware concept is simple: try before you buy. If you like SVI31 
  8. and wish to continue using it, you are required to register with 
  9. Soft Ventures.
  10.  
  11. The shareware version of SVInstal is NOT crippled. It does everything 
  12. that the registered version does. 
  13.  
  14. The differences are:
  15.  
  16. 1. The shareware version says 'Unregistered Shareware' on the SVInstal 
  17.    screen. The registered version does not.
  18.  
  19. 2. The shareware version comes with a simple data file build program, 
  20.    the registered version comes with the more sophisticated 
  21.    PRO_BLD.EXE. PRO_BLD uses a database to store the location of files 
  22.    used to make up a distribution. When you select 'Build', PROB_BLD
  23.    creates DISK1, DISK2, etc subdirectories, placing the files to
  24.    best use the space available. PRO_BLD will compress as it builds
  25.    so you don't have to. PROB_BLD allows you to modify or add to any
  26.    number if INI files.

  28. The reason I chose to not distribute the PRO_BLD program as shareware
  29. is simple - size. It is written in Visual Basic with an Access database.
  30. While those are real nice development tools, they need huge support DLLs
  31. in order to do their magic. It did not seem logical to distribute 2+MB
  32. of DLLs at the shareware level.

  34. NOTE!!! You do not need to distribute the DLLs, ONLY SVI3.EXE and your
  35. SVINSTAL.SVI datafile. SVI312.EXE is a small efficient C program. PRO_BLD
  36. is for your use only.

  38. The SVI312.EXE engine has all the same capabilities in the shareware version.
